Intermitant Fault -Update

Hello All,
The new Antenna has now been installed 26/11/2010 AM and seems to be working very well.......reports welcome........our Thanks go to Richard G1SLE & Phil G6YAL for their time & effort in the bitter cold weather for the installation Many Thanks

Regards The GB3IN Repeater Team

We have a fault on the repeater which is caused by a faulty antenna the repeater has now been returned to service on a temporary fix basis with the addition of an extra filter ....it is currently working ok most of the time

The fault condition causes a major problem to the duplexer and hence the receiver so in both modes

Please keep this in mind ....you may find it ok at times and not at others it is intermitant and I have done all that can be done for the time being

We have a new replacement antenna on order and hope to get this fitted at the next scheduled work on the tower.

Change Again

Because of the recent release of the new ircDDB gateway software by G4KLX and on test the much improved performance I have decided to move straight over to it .....this has removed some features for the moment that we have become used to on GB3IN such as full connect voice announcements

I intend to replace these but in the mean time currently you will get the connection status after you de-key in TEXT format of what the repeater is linked to or not as the case may be this follows more the Icom standard

Also Linking commands have been simplified see below

To use GB3IN in digital mode you will need to set the following in your D-Star enabled radio.

Basic settings to get you working on GB3IN

  • MyCall = your callsign
  • Ur Call = CQCQCQ
  • RPT1=  GB3IN C (note 2 spaces between call and "C") C is for module C which is by convention 2m.
  • RPT2 = GB3IN G (note 2 spaces between call and "G") G is for module G which is the gateway or network.

So with the above set you'll be able to talk to stations using the repeater or coming in from the Gateway.

Linking commands changed L= Link  8th position for Multi-Trust - dextra

You can link to reflectors and gateways on the Multi-Trust using the following commands at GB3IN

examples

  • set "XRF001AL" in Ur Call and you will be able to connect to the UK  XRF001 reflector
  • set "GB7HD BL" in Ur Call will link you to GB7HD port B the 70cm port on Multi-Trust

To establish the link once you have set-up as above you need to key up for half a second ....shortly after you un-key you will here a status message from the gateway telling you the link is established on the XRF reflectors you will get a full voice announcement telling you which XRF reflector you are linked to with this you will see a TEXT message with the same information this is a unque feature on the Windows gateway at GB3IN with our own software.

Once you have made the link you need to revert UrCall back to CQCQCQ before making a call....so you can see you need to program commands like this to memory as it takes ages to do it manually.

Unlinking commands changed  U = Kill  8th position for Multi-Trust - dextra

Set Ur Call to " U" this is the U in the 8th or last position in Ur Call

Again set this up in memory for unlinking.

Linking commands REF  dplus reflectors 8th position   "L"

You can link to reflectors and gateways on the Multi-Trust using the following commands at GB3IN

examples

  • set "REF005AL" in Ur Call and you will be able to connect to the UK  REF005A reflector
  • set "GB7SFCL" in Ur Call will link you to GB7SF port C the 2m port on dplus

Once you have made the link you need to revert UrCall back to CQCQCQ before making a call....so you can see you need to program commands like this to memory as it takes ages to do it manually.

Unlinking commands changed dplus reflectors 7th 8th position "U"

Set Ur Call to "U" this is the U in the 8th or last position in Ur Call
