Intermitant Fault -Update

Hello All,
The new Antenna has now been installed 26/11/2010 AM and seems to be working very well.......reports welcome........our Thanks go to Richard G1SLE & Phil G6YAL for their time & effort in the bitter cold weather for the installation Many Thanks

Regards The GB3IN Repeater Team

We have a fault on the repeater which is caused by a faulty antenna the repeater has now been returned to service on a temporary fix basis with the addition of an extra filter ....it is currently working ok most of the time

The fault condition causes a major problem to the duplexer and hence the receiver so in both modes

Please keep this in mind ....you may find it ok at times and not at others it is intermitant and I have done all that can be done for the time being

We have a new replacement antenna on order and hope to get this fitted at the next scheduled work on the tower.

D-Star Update

GB3IN is connected to the UKTRUST part of the Mult-Trust network this network is an emerging network in the D-star world and is the choice network for developers. It is open to all in the true spirit of amateur radio and free from the politics associated with other networks it provides full G2 routing and connectivity with XRF reflectors running Dextra linking

We now have XRF001 reflector which is the UK based XRF reflector, systems connected to Multi-Trust in the UK tend to gather here

At GB3IN we have always embraced new technologies and feel that this free open network  currently offers best performance and allows us to develop as the network itself develops.

There are clear advantages with the Multi-Trust network model the main advantage being its distributed structure, there are several Trust servers which are syncronised with each other so it does not depend on one trust server. This allows syncronisation times to be fast and hence G2 routing actually works, even if you move between gateways on different Trust servers.

Please look at the UKTRUST web site for further information www.uktrust.org.uk

You will here see amongst other things activity on GB3IN and other systems connected to the network

We have new linking facilities to compliment the full Multi-Trust G2 and XRF reflectors you can now link GB3IN to the main dplus REF reflectors and gateways using the dplus linking software ....this facilty gives users Hotspot type dplus conectivity for outbound connections only but at least allows users to keep in touch with users and gateways on the Icom main network

Another feature which has just been added to the gateway is ircDDB callsign routing which is an emerging routing protcol which is likely to start to replace G2 I think ...it is much enhanced and provides real time routing for more information visit www.ircddb.net you will see GB3IN is the first UK gateway to add this facilty thanks to the ircDDB team for their help
