GB7HQ

GB7HQ is an experimental repeater currently operational on 145.66250 Output and 145.066250 Input in DMO mode it is using a TDMA capable radio, it relays the traffic it hears 30mS later onto the Output frequency and therefore works without the need of a duplexer.

This is a first for us, I am calling it DFR DMO mode it is similar in principle to a single frequency repeater SFR, however SFR requires more complex radios with a special protocol enabled

In DFR DMO mode any radio capable of DMO mode DMR is potentially capable of operating this mode

Some radios cannot directly use DMO mode on a pair of frequencies as they assume to be expecting a standard DMR repeater with 2 slots …however the repeater can be used with non supported radios by programming 2 simplex channels one on the input and  one the output frequency and switching between the 2 channels RX or TX, another method could be to setup both channels in a scan list so you TX on the input and the radio scans the 2 channels input and output frequencies

If you are lucky enough to be using a radio supporting OpenGD77 firmware any of these radios are now supporting this mode as of 16/3/2024 take a look the list of radios is growing using this firmware.
